BoardSource Knowledge Center BoardSource is a nonprofit organization that offers consulting, publications, and membership services to increase the effectiveness of nonprofit boards. Though many of the resources on BoardSource's website are available only to members, don't let that scare you. The Knowledge Center section of the website contains several free-access resources, including articles, white papers, and an extensive FAQ file. GrantStation.com Online since 1999, GrantStation.com provides information and mentorship about the grantseeking process. Though most of their online resources are available only to paid subscribers, the "Tracks to Success" series offers free articles on a variety of fundraising and nonprofit management topics, including capital campaigns, endownment building, youth engagement, creating a development plan, and more. The Challenge of Assessing Policy and Advocacy Activities The paper is designed to outline an approach to policy change evaluation grounded in the experience of experts and foundation colleagues. (See Appendix A for the research methodology.) This paper first posits three key priorities in evaluating policy change work, drawn from interviews with grantees and staff from The California Endowment on their needs concerning policy change evaluation. It also discusses the challenges inherent in monitoring and assessing these types of grants.
